Sim Racing Equipment reassembled

So I put my iRacing equipment back together last night. It has been more than 4 months since it has been running due to selling my condo and buying a new house. I'm "not allowed to use it" until we're unpacked. I "had to test it last night" though to make sure it was all working. I was woefully off pace in the KIA Optima. Granted i've never driven the car before and under heavy braking the car insisted on swapping ends.

Definitely need to learn the tricks to driving that car.

Incidentally I hate the Star Mazda. I'm a fan of the Jetta so I was looking forward to something with FWD that had slicks. If I don't end up enjoying the KIA I'll race the Riley.

Wha? The Star Mazda is the most fun. I find the Jetta to be a bit dull because of the low RPM TDI shift points. I tried the Kia for about five minutes and got bored. Both the Jetta and the Optima aren't so far removed from stock that it is worth driving them in a simulator IMHO. The Lotus 49 is eye pron, but boy it is a hard one to control.

I spent all of 2012 earning my DWC license. I have no real desire to drive something that requires a lot of effort to be able to keep it on the pavement so the Lotus 49 won't be for me. I was expecting the KIA to be cake to drive due to it being FWD. That hasn't been the case so far.

Now that I have a kid I don't have much time to race, so I'm down to sneaking on there every once in a while to test. Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is my new favorite, even moreso than Road America. And I loves me some Road America.

Mid Ohio has always been one of my favorite tracks. I'm looking forward to Montreal.
